Founded in 2013, the Ba Fang Traditional Arts and Innovation Troupe is a Tainan-based performing arts group. Centered on Taiwan's traditional folk formations (Yizhen), the ensemble integrates innovation and creativity, dedicating itself to the preservation and promotion of traditional Taiwanese culture.
Its members are drawn from elementary, middle, and high schools, as well as universities, with academic backgrounds in music, sports, and related fields. Having trained since childhood, they have laid a solid foundation in traditional Chinese music, martial arts, and Yizhen practices. By seamlessly fusing these elements with contemporary performing arts, they vibrantly showcase the unique cultural characteristics of local Taiwan.
The troupe has been frequently invited to perform on international stages, with a touring footprint that includes Italy, New Zealand, Shanghai, Honolulu, and London. By presenting traditional Taiwanese arts such as the Ba Jia Jiang (The Eight Generals), Guan Jiang Shou (Officers of the Gods), Electric San Tai Zi (Techno Neon Gods), and traditional Chinese music, they have successfully showcased the charm of Taiwanese culture to the world, garnering widespread international acclaim.
Domestically, the ensemble has graced the stages of major events, including the Taiwan Lantern Festival, the Tainan International Nanying Arts Festival, the Tainan Children's Arts Education Festival, and events at the Tainan Air Force Base. Through their highly innovative performances, they continue to serve as active promoters of Taiwan's traditional arts.
