Tainan City Gueiren District Gueinan Elementary School is an institution highly dedicated to the promotion of traditional folk sports in Taiwan. Composed of students, its dragon dance team, jump-drum array (Tiaogu), and Songjiang Battle Array not only make frequent appearances at various events but have also won countless awards in national folk competitions over the past two decades.
In 2005, they notably brought the wild, unrestrained energy of traditional folk formations (Yizhen) onto a refined theatrical stage for the first time, performing at the Gueiren Cultural Center Auditorium to unanimous acclaim. Furthermore, they were invited to perform at the opening ceremony of the 2007 National Middle School Games and were prominently featured on the Discovery Channel's Fun Taiwan program.
During the 114th academic year, they captured the Special Excellence Awards in the jump-drum, dragon dance, and Songjiang array categories at the Tainan Traditional Arts Competition. They also achieved remarkable success, dominating the National Folk Sports Competition.
Gueinan Elementary is also backed by a vibrant and selflessly dedicated "folk team coaching group." While they may not be professional masters of traditional folk arts, they are passionate enthusiasts who hope to utilize joyful teaching methods to inspire children to fall in love with Taiwan’s unique local culture.
