Founded in 2017, the Taniwha Ki Uta (Taniwha Ventures) of New Zealand is a group that specializes in traditional Māori performance dance. Dedicated to the preservation and transmission of Māori culture, the group has participated in numerous community and national events to ensure that Māori values and traditions are preserved and celebrated both nationally and internationally. Through songs and dances, the Taniwha Ventures preserve the precious traditions that have been passed down from generation to generation and demonstrate to audiences the cultural orientation and identity of the Māori people. Their performances not only present the stories of Māori history, but also depict the way of life and spirituality of the Māori people.
Taniwha’s performances cover traditional dances and songs that are both part of a cultural education and a heartfelt tribute to the roots of Māori culture. Each performance is filled with respect for Māori traditions and showcases the uniqueness of that culture. They look forward to exposing and educating more people about Māori culture, and through their performances, keeping the stories and spirit of the Māori people alive.
