FS Radost Pardubice 帕度比采・拉多斯特民俗歌舞團

Rooted in East Bohemian and Chodsko traditions, the ensemble brings Czech folklore to life through partner dances, group choreography, and live folk music.

FS Radost Pardubice was founded in 1977; “Radost” means “joy” in Czech. The ensemble is affiliated with Youth Centre Alfa in the city of Pardubice and provides age-group training from children as young as four through adults. Its dance and vocal repertoire is based mainly on historical records from eastern Bohemia and also includes traditions from Chodsko in southwestern Czechia. The group places importance on preserving the original character of dances through ethnographic and local documentary sources and performs with a live musical ensemble. Over the years, it has participated in festivals and competitions in Czechia and abroad, winning awards in music, stage performance, and choreography. International exchange also gives younger members opportunities to learn about other cultures and build mutual respect and friendship.

【Performance Highlights】
This edition is performed mainly by youth members aged 12 to 20. Dances from the Pardubice and Chrudim regions are often natural, fluid partner dances using rhythms such as polka, waltz, and sousedská. Their movements are light and elegant, emphasizing coordination and turning patterns between partners. Dances from the Chodsko region have stronger rhythms and livelier footwork and are often presented in circular formations. The live ensemble uses instruments including violin, double bass, flute, and clarinet; the bright, forceful clarinet sound further highlights the passionate and robust local character of Chodsko dance.
