The University of Warsaw's flagship folk ensemble combines dance, song, and live music to present the distinctive traditions of Poland's many regions.

University of Warsaw Dance Theatre “Warszawianka” is a representative artistic ensemble of the University of Warsaw in Poland. Students and alumni from different academic disciplines take part in dance, singing, and instrumental performance. The ensemble is also a member of the Polish section of the International Council of Organizations of Folklore Festivals and Folk Arts (CIOFF) and has repeatedly represented Poland at world expositions, international folklore festivals, and city-to-city cultural exchanges. Its performances have taken it to more than twenty countries across Europe, Asia, and the Americas.

【Performance Highlights】
The ensemble performs Poland’s national dances as well as traditional repertoire from different regions, using distinctive steps, music, and costumes to reveal each area’s cultural character. Dances from Kaszuby are lively and light, often paired with dark-blue costumes decorated with gold embroidery; Podlasie features partnered turns and orderly, elegant group dancing; Rzeszów is marked by fast rhythms, expansive movement, and often humorous episodes; while Spisz reflects Slovak and Hungarian influences, combining polka, czardas, and technically demanding, powerful movement by male dancers. Together, the repertoire presents the colorful variety of Polish folk culture.
