Nepal, the country of Mount Everest, is world-renowned for its rich ancient cultural heritage. Despite its small size, Nepal is ethnically, culturally and geographically diverse. As a result, each ethnic group in Nepal has its own culture, customs, traditions, music, and dances. Nepal itself is a melting pot of folklore, folk dances, folk music, and ballads, and it is important to preserve and promote these traditional folk dances and folk music in the present times. A group of Nepali artists have realized the importance of preserving these traditions and this has led to the formation of the Kathmandu Artist Club.
Established in 2009, the Kathmandu Artist Club of Nepal aims to preserve Nepal’s traditional folk music and dance on the national and international stage and to develop international cultural exchanges, with productions featuring local musical instruments and dance performances in a strong style that deeply echoes the culture of local communities.
